Cake pops are adorable, delicious, and the perfect treat for any occasion! There are many different ways to make cake pops, and not one single way will work for all. To be honest, sometimes the process makes me want to scream! The best way to learn is hands on, so to get your started I’ll share what works best for me…
Ingredients:
- 1 package cake mix
- Ingredients called for on cake mix package
- 1/2 container frosting (pre-made that you would buy at the store)
- 32 oz. white/milk chocolate or candy melts
- 2 tsp. shortening or oil
- Lollipop sticks
- 1 Styrofoam block or cardboard box with pre-poked holes.
- Sprinkles, melted chocolate or other edible decorations.
Directions:
- Prepare and Bake cake mix according to package directions.
- Crumble cake into large bowl.
- Add frosting to crumbled cake and mix by hand until blended. If necessary for mixture to form a ball without cracking, add additional frosting.
- Shape mixture into balls and place on a pan covered with waxed paper. Chill in the refrigerator while you prep your chocolate.
- Melt chocolate and shortening in microwave-safe bowl over medium heat for 1 minute. Stir and microwave 20 seconds, stirring and repeating until melted.
- Dip tips of lollipop sticks into melted white chocolate and insert into center of cake balls. Chill 5 minutes.
- Dip each cake ball into melted chocolate. Decorate with sprinkles. Insert stick into Styrofoam block or cardboard box and repeat. (Re-melt chocolate as needed)
- Allow to harden in refrigerator.
These are a lot of fun to make. Let your imagination go wild and expect to screw up a few!
